Economic performance of Belgian ports : Flemish seaports and the Liege port complex – 2005 report (Frédéric Lagneaux, National Bank of Belgium, published in May 2007)

The National Bank of Belgium publishes an annual update of its survey on the economic performance of Flemish seaports and the Liege port complex.

Two dimensions of the sector's economic impact are highlighted: the direct implications and indirect implications. The direct spin-offs refer to activities as a result of maritime and non-maritime branches being in the ports or in the immediate vicinity of the ports, whereas the indirect ones involve the value-adding and job creation opportunities developed upstream from these branches in dealings with Belgium-based suppliers and subcontractors.
The survey may be consulted on the site www.nbb.be, entitled " Working Paper Document N°115 " for the latest year available (2005).
