The largest inland port in Belgium and the third leading one in Europe (21.8 million tonnes in 2008), ideally located at the hub of a closely linked network of multimodal communications, the Port of Liege oversees 31 port areas (366 hectares available to the users of the waterway). The Liege Port Authority is currently developing Liege Trilogiport ", a 100 hectares multimodal platform along the Albert Canal, 15h sailing time from the Port of Antwerp and 24h from the Port of Rotterdam (15 hectares container terminal, river shuttles,...).

These various projects have enabled the Liege Port Authority to become a key player in the economic restructuring process of the Liege region.
